I have been having this issue with several versions of Autocad. At some point the application will start showing a lagging behavior when entering and existing commands. It completely blows my concentration and the productive flow away. I have researched quite a lot on the net, and tried all the usual suspects: Disabling all CPU consuming features cycle, dynamic inputs, properties palette, visual effects, etc. I have de-activated all the 3d performance settings.
Disable "enable desktop composition" in Windows. All my graphic drivers are up to date. But nothing seems to work and the frustration start to be quite annoying.
Welcome to CADTutor. If you have some sort of antivirus on your computer, try disabling it and see if it fixes the issue. I seem to have found the cause. Strangely the massive slow down is caused by the command line window. As soon as I turn it off ctrl 9 the problem goes away.
Now I have another problem which is to work without command line, but at least this is not impairing productivity as the lagging was. There seems to be no much info regarding this bug becasue bug it is. As I said I have been having this problem with different versions of Autocad and different computers, only I could work because the problem only becomes impairing when the file I am working on is big.
Dagdad: Adaptive degradation is on and set to 5, I will also change that. But I only works in 2D in autocad, and as far as I know this is only applied when working in 3D, right?
Organic: I have not tried to disable the antivirus, but even if it works, i dont think is a viable option, because working without antivirus would be a total suicide.
Would you agree? ReMark: Hardware acceleration is on, and I have dissabled Info centre, autocad and so on in the registry.
My gut feeling is that this is related to windows. I have already tried to disable all visual effects but the problem is still there.Operatore ecologico cassonetto e accessori in commercio
Any ideas? For now I will work with dynamic input, not that i like it that much, but at least i can work, because with the previous lagging it was totally impossible, specially when you are working with autocad all day long as I am doing now.

I am a 38 male from Quebec Canada, drafter, if that's even the right name for me job in English. My problem is the following, our network is pretty poor everything is lagging with it In the file manager especially and there is nothing we can do about it, it's a public service.
The network is ok for many types of secretary jobs and managers writing at 1 word per minutes but it's difficult for me apparently with CAD. With the serious problem, I have a lag at every commands, even zoom and pan middle mouse has serious lag. For instance I just imported an image in my DWG and I was trying to select that image to move it and crop it In AutoCADbut it's almost impossible only to click, open select window and select the object.
How in the world is it possible that the network could affect moving an image in AutoCAD? There is apparently a direct relation between the network and the commands in my Autocad. Perhaps there are options in autocad related to using the network? Is the image an xref? Working offline seems like an impossibility i need to look at PDFs, images, excels all the time when I work in autocad.
But is there an offline mode in Autocad maybe? I doubt it. Bigal: Which temporary directory exactly? Tip: Check Autodesk Certified Graphic Card list and see if your graphic driver is supported and up to date. See here.
There may be many other machine variables and configuration that may affect this type of issue. This generally occurs on a Windows 7 machine but can happen on other operating systems as well. Whenever moving the mouse over objects the cursor slows down or seems jumpy like a mystery snap setting is on.
Of course snap is turned off. Also try the Selection tab and uncheck 'When no command is active' under Selection Preview. The View Tune log will indicate what version is installed. Verify if this is the recommended one at:. With all these changes you should notice an improvement and your mouse will no longer "snap" and cause a delay. This hotfix is suitable for all AutoCAD verticals and will fix the slowdown caused by the layer control update available in the ribbon.
Install this Hotfix only on the shipping version of the product. Service Pack 1 already contains this fix therefore installing this hotfix on top of Service Pack 1 will cause instability and potential crashes. Ok, so I was having this issue on a laptop, but not on any of my desktops.

What we did before can help to improve overall system performance, not unique to AutoCAD. In this article, we cover specific configuration for AutoCAD. There are several processes that you can disable. Disabling the splash screen is believed can reduce loading time. It may not gives significant effects on new computers, but it helps on a slow computer.
At least it will not load the image and consume memory for that process. To disable splash screen, right click the AutoCAD shortcut on your desktop. Click properties on contextual menu. Now when you double click the shortcut, AutoCAD will not show the splash screen when loading. There are much more you can do with startup switch. If you are interested, you can see more about AutoCAD startup switches here. When you start AutoCAD, it will create a new file using the default template.
Many times we want to continue working with the previous drawing. So the opened drawing is usually useless. Another reason why it would be useless is when you have many templates for your drawings.
When you create new drawings, you probably want to use another template. Instead of creating a new file, it will let you choose to create a new file or open existing files. For AutoCAD or later, you can change it to 2 as well.
It will load AutoCAD without opening any file or any dialog boxes. InfoCenter or Communication Center provides information related to your products. There are reported problems that say it prevents AutoCAD from starting. It takes your computer resources without you noticing it.
You can disable InfoCenter by changing a registry value or install this free program from ManuSoft here. It will give fatal error message.

There are useful for sure.

However, they consume many resources. Dynamic Input is always accused of degrading graphic performance. Try to turn it off. Quick Properties is a small properties palette that will appear when you select an object. I like it. But again, if you use a slow computer it can be annoying. Selection Cycling is a small window that will appear when you select overlapping objects.
